Cryo
Fat reduction by cooling, for specific areas.
- Stubborn tummy fat
- Double chin
- Localised fat pockets
- Areas exercise has not shifted
What is Cryo?
Fat cells are more vulnerable to cold than the tissue around them. Cryo uses that: an applicator cools a drawn-up pocket of fat to a temperature that damages the fat cells while leaving skin, nerve and muscle intact. The body clears the damaged cells gradually over the following weeks.
It treats what fits in the applicator, which makes it good for defined pockets and wrong for general weight. Results take weeks to appear and vary between people. Anyone quoting you a guaranteed figure is making it up.
Cooling targets a pocket that can be drawn into the applicator — which means it suits a defined bulge and not a general spread. It is not weight loss, it will not tighten loose skin, and the shape of the applicator sets what can be treated. A hands-on assessment, not a photograph, decides whether you are a candidate.
- Time
- Allow an hour or more per applicator placement
- Downtime
- Usually little. Numbness and tenderness are common afterwards
- Sessions
- Often one or two per area, reviewed after weeks
- Results
- Appear gradually over weeks
- Comfort
- Intense cold for the first few minutes, then numbness; tender afterwards
Is this the right treatment for you?
A defined pocket rather than general weight?
That is what the applicator can treat. General weight is a different conversation.
Patient?
The change takes weeks to appear as the body clears the cells.
Maintaining a stable weight?
Remaining fat cells still respond to weight gain, so the result holds best alongside a stable weight.
Expecting it to tighten loose skin?
It will not. Cooling targets fat; laxity needs ultrasound or radiofrequency.
When it is not appropriate
Pregnancy or breastfeeding, a pacemaker or implanted electrical device, hernia in the treatment area, active infection, and any condition affecting circulation or sensation must all be raised before anything is booked. Tell the practitioner about every medication and supplement you are taking. Cold-related conditions including cryoglobulinaemia and cold urticaria, and hernia in the treatment area, rule this out.
What happens in a session
Consult
The area is assessed, the pocket measured against the applicator, and photos taken.
Prepare
A protective membrane is placed and the applicator positioned.
Cool
The area is drawn in and cooled for the planned time. Intense cold for the first minutes, then numbness.
Massage and review
The area is massaged after release, and progress reviewed after weeks.

Consultation is free. You will be told plainly whether Cryo is the right fit, and what to do instead if it is not.

Cryo, answered
How much fat will I lose?
It varies, and anyone giving you a guaranteed percentage is making it up. You are given a realistic expectation at assessment and photographed so the change can be judged honestly.
Does it hurt?
Intense cold and pulling for the first minutes, then the area goes numb. Most people find the rest of the placement dull rather than painful.
Is this weight loss?
No. It is contouring of a defined pocket. Weight is a separate matter and should be treated as one.
Will I need more than one?
Often one or two per area. It is reviewed after weeks rather than booked in a block upfront.
When will I see a difference?
Slowly. The body clears the treated cells over weeks, and most people are told to judge it at the two to three month mark.
How long does it last?
Treated cells do not return. The cells left behind still grow with weight gain, so the result depends on what happens afterwards.
Can I combine it with other treatments?
Often followed by tightening work once the reduction has settled. Doing both at once makes neither assessable.
